The Boston Red Sox recently wrapped up their 2024 season with a balanced 81-81 record, marking their third consecutive year missing the playoffs.
While the team struggled with consistency, there were positives. Promising young pitchers like Tanner Houck, Brayan Bello, and Kutter Crawford made significant strides, helping stabilize the rotation despite injuries to veterans like Lucas Giolito and Chris Sale.
Outfielder Jarren Duran emerged as a key player, showcasing speed, power, and defensive skills, solidifying his role as a core member for the future.
In the offseason, the Red Sox may look to make impactful changes. First baseman Triston Casas, who was limited to 63 games due to injury, has been the subject of trade speculation as the team explores ways to enhance its roster.
Casas, however, expressed his desire to stay and contribute to Boston’s rebuild.
Defensively, the Red Sox struggled, leading the American League in errors for the second consecutive season, an area they’ll need to address to be more competitive in 2025.
Improvements from the coaching staff, led by manager Alex Cora, also provide hope for the team’s long-term development and postseason aspirations.
